Hello everyone!

Let me present to you. My name is Cristian Luis, and I am an F1 Challenge '99-'02 player and modder since April 2007.

Welcome to the F1 Challenge '99-'02 repository! Here you can get everything you need about modding in F1C, but that is just a small part of all that this blog dedicated to F1C contains. 

Here, you can find the F1C developer's toolbox ─downloadable through MEGA and Mediafire─, links from the past and from the present, car packs, track packs, all download sections that ever existed in F1C, tutorials, other repositories, exclusive websites, stuff about other sim-racing games, developer sections, scientific articles about F1 Challenge '99-'02, other communities (from F1C and other sim-racing platform games), graphic optimizations and much more!

As (maybe) you can perceive, my aim with this webpage is to make a Bible attempt about F1 Challenge '99-'02's contents. As for me, in my times as an active modder, I did my best to keep this community alive and being ethic with the stuff I do, optimize and share, as well as being inclusive with new players. Actually I am retired, but my principles are the same. Moreover, albeit I am not active anymore, this page is going to be updated from time to time.

This blog is not an ask me anything section, as well as not a place where you questions about modding and/or gameplay are going to be solved. If you have come here with that purpose, I suggest you to go to the F1C communities section, and ask your doubt(s) in any of them (Wookey F1C Forum, F1 Challenge VB 
or Constrictor Modding Team are good choices.

With that said, let's get down to business. 

I present you the developer toolbox, with more than 90 applications, having mos of them tutorials online and offline. There is everything you need about F1C. The rest is about learning a lot, solving your issues asking to other members in the community and testing yourself a lot by debugging again and again.

With this package of contents, any of can help to contribute to the F1C community and share improvements (improved AIW's, circuits, release of add-ons, optimize stuff, etc.), if you want. You can even convert tracks and racing cars from other racing simulation platforms (mostly from rFactor 1.) If you are going to convert any stuff for public and/or free use, please never forget to ask for permission to their original authors. You can read the politics of permission obtainment in this page, in the final part of this post.

Politics of permission obtainment

As our hobby in this sub-genre exists for a long time, there are a lot of work (cars, car packs, tracks, track packs, fixes, optimizations, tweaks, setups, textures, 3D models, physics files, mods...) that have been made by people who do maybe no not care anymore to answer for email when requiring permissions to convert or adapt.

The official Policy for publishing content from other authors and/or converted from the work of others in any F1C community should be:

1) Convert cars and/or tracks for yourself (from rFactor2, Grand Prix Legends, Automobilista, rFactor, Grand Prix 4, GTR2, Assetto Corsa, Nascar Thunder 2004, etc.), and test them thoroughly to debug until all errors are fixed. If you are stuck, feel free to ask for some help in this forum.

2) Include EVERYTHING you know about the origin of the vehicle/track in a readme.txt file. Take your time to investigate who is (or who are) the original creator(s) of the car/circuit you decided to put work, and give special attention when reading the credits file(s.) Respect the original work of other authors and give them their deserved credit is a must. Do not pretend you build from scratch if it is not true.

3) Ask for permission to the author(s) if there is any e-mail available (or account in other forums like DrivingItalia, ISI Forums, NoGripRacing, RaceDepartment, rFactorCentral, Sim Racing Mirror Zone, etc.) The original product must have at least one year of existence in Internet in order to do any activity related to conversion and public share. Otherwise, do nout publish anything.

If an original publication is too recent, wait at least for one year in order to ask for permission (for example, if a user called Krientsen creates a brand new 1972 Formula 2 mod for rFactor or any other sim-racing platform, and he releases it on June 24th, 2015, you can start to ask for permission and convert to F1 Challenge '99-'02 what that author has created ─ with Krientsen's permission given ─ from June 24th, 2016 [one year of time between the publication of that original stuff and the release of the conversion project] onwards.)

4) After you have sent him a message, wait for an answer at least for 30 days. Do your best to contact the correct(s) content creator(s.)

5) If answer is OK or there is no answer, feel free to share. When releasing the mod, car, carset, track or track pack, the title must include the name of its original author(s), not yours. Do not share if there is no way of contact the content creator of the work you are converting.

If the answer turns out to be a "no", respect the decision of that modder and have your new content exclusively for personal use. 

6) If any author(s) complain, retire it if he/she proves ownership. Do your best to be genuine, receptive, patient and empathic to him/her. Understand his/her feelings. If the result of your conversation with him/her concludes with the erase and deletion of the hypertext reference(s), send publicly an apology note to that content creator and available to anyone of the community you are part in. Be sincere, ethical and whole in that note.

7) Official stuff (mod[s], cars[ets], track [pack], conversions, etc.) from other sim-racing platforms such as iRacing, rFactor2, Automobilista, Codemasters F1 series or Assetto Corsa (whatever) are not allowed by any means, because of reasons related to licenses ─ unless the one who release it proofs permission obtain through video recording his/her mailbox/private messages box, with zero manipulations of the facts ─.
